Full Bathroom Remodeling in Spruce Grove

Demolition is done deliberately rather than fast. What is underneath decides the rest of the project, and pulling a tub surround too aggressively can turn a repairable subfloor into a replacement. As it comes apart we look for the usual suspects: rot around the toilet flange, soft floor near the tub, an exhaust fan venting into the attic, and waterproofing that either was not installed or was lapped the wrong way. In homes built before the mid-2000s, at least one of those is present more often than not.

With the room open, the framing gets corrected. That means blocking for a grab bar if you want one later, proper backing for a wall-hung vanity, and squaring anything that has moved. Plumbing and electrical rough-ins are coordinated at this stage, whether you are keeping the existing layout or moving fixtures. Moving a toilet is more involved than moving a sink, because the drain needs slope and the stack is where it is, and that constraint is worth understanding before the layout is locked.

Waterproofing is the part that separates a remodel that lasts from one that gets torn out in eight years. We install a membrane system behind the tile and in the shower pan, with the seams lapped so water is directed out rather than in, and the pan pitched properly to the drain. It gets checked before tile goes on. This is invisible work that nobody photographs, and it is the single biggest reason bathrooms fail.

Ventilation gets sized for the room and ducted to the exterior, not into a soffit or an attic. Alberta winters make this more important, not less: a poorly vented bathroom in a cold climate pushes moisture into places that will not dry out until spring.

Then the finishes. Tile on the floor and in the shower, the vanity and countertop, fixtures, lighting, mirror, paint, and trim. If you have chosen everything already, we work to your selections.
